Obituary Image

Deacon Alfred Joseph Morgan, Sr. was born December 24, 1946 to the late Alexander Charles and Emma Baker Morgan in Birmingham, Alabama. 

He received his formal education in the Birmingham Public School System.  After completing high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Army on February 9, 1970 and served his country honorably for four years.  In 1971, he began his employment with Southern Company (Alabama Power) and remained there faithfully until his retirement in 2002. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church, Ishkooda.  He later united with Shiloh Baptist Church of Montevallo Park under the leadership of Reverend Ralph E. Marshall, Jr. Here he served faithfully as a Deacon until his health began to fail.

Alfred Joe quietly and sweetly slept away into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.

He was preceded in death by six of his siblings, Johnny Hubbard, Charles Morgan, Savannah Morgan, Ada Mae Hall (Robert), Noah Morgan, and Betty Ruth Ball

He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Durrell (Angela) Morgan and Alfred (Chandra) Morgan, Jr. both of Birmingham, Alabama; a loving daughter and caretaker Madria Morgan-Cook (Matthew) of Childersburg, Alabama; eight grandchildren; Alexis, Amber, Deneisha (Gonzalez), Chase, Amir, Diamond, Avion, and Ashton; one great-grandson, Armoni; one brother, Hoover Hubbard of Boston, Massachusetts; two sisters, Ola Lee Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia and Christine Nickson (Bishop Otis Nickson) of Chicago, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
