Mr. Curtis Lee Garrett

Alpine

Curtis Lee Garrett, affectionately known as “G Man,” began his earthly journey on April 15, 1959 to the late Lillie Mae Garrett Sparks and the late Obie Garrett Jr., in Alpine, Alabama. Curtis was raised by his stepfather, the late Deacon Will Hilton Sparks and his mother, the late Lillie Mae Garrett Sparks all of Talladega County, Alabama.


At an early age, Curtis accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Kingston Missionary Baptist Church in Alpine, Alabama.


Curtis was educated in the Talladega County school system. He attended Childersburg High School in Childersburg, Alabama. Curtis later joined the US Army and completed overseas tours of duty in Germany. After completing his enlistment in the Army, Curtis decided to make Tacoma, Washington his home.


Curtis departed his walk of life on January 5, 2026 at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents Will Hilton, Lillie Mae and Obie Jr.


Curtis leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 25 years, Trudy Garrett, seven brothers, George (Hope) Sparks of Sylcauga, Al., John (Teresa) Garrett of Alpine, Al., Wilbert (Veronica) Sparks of Bayminette, Al., Terry (Gloria) Garrett of Maylene, Al., Jerry (Annette) Garrett of Richwood, Tx., Kelvin Garrett of West Lake, La., Ladale (Monica) Garrett of Oxford, Al., six sisters Dorothy (Zebedee) Swain of Stafford, Va., Juanita Sparks Hall of Lincoln, Al., Denise Wilson of Alpine, Al., Myra Jean (Greg) Spaulding of Smithfield, Va., Deborah (Undray) Taylor of Smiths Station, Al., Shawnta (Eric) Harrell of Smiths Station, Al., a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, and a dear friend to Curtis and Trudy, John Prince.


Curtis’ love for people never allowed him to meet a stranger. He loved everybody and everybody loved him.


Curtis loved cooking for his family and friends. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. He will always be in our hearts forever.
