Valerie Jones

I just want to let you know I began my journey October 27, 1956. I was born in Jefferson County, in Birmingham, AL. to the proud parents of the late David Jones and Lula Bell Jennings Jones. I was a beautiful 10 pound baby girl and they named me Valerie Jones. My parents reared me in Jefferson County, Al. and I was educated in the Jefferson County School System.

I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized here at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized here at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.

I was often told my smile would light up any room. My unselfish spirit brought joy to many. My love of people was evident everywhere I went. My love of God and fellowship with His saints was widely known.

I had many certificates of appreciation. I was a participant in the North Central Alabama & State Special Olympics. I was a Board Member of A.H. Parker High School, a member of the Graymont Neighborhood Watch and an Honorary Usher at Jesus Deliverance Chapel A.C.O.P, in my later years.

I arrived safely on Hallelujah Flight Number March 3, 2018. My flight was like none other I’ve ever experienced before. I thank God for my pre-paid ticket. Purchased by my Savior Jesus Christ. I met people of all ages and ethnicities. The flight attendants were dressed all in white wearing crowns of Glory! The pilot for the flight was God Almighty and the Co-Pilot was the Son-of God, my Savior, and Jesus Christ. He announced to all aboard, “Welcome”! This was a one-way, non-stop flight. Please disembark and pass through the pearly gates of heaven, your eternal destination.  I saw my grandparents, my parents (David & Lula Bell Jones), my brother (Curtis Hicks Jr) and many other family members and friends.

 Valerie leaves to celebrate her home going: Sisters:  Rita Hicks Yowe, Harpersville, AL; Renee’ (Buck) Rollins, Gainesville, FL; Lillie (Rodney) Collins, Sr., Smyrna, GA; Uncle: Curtis Jennings Sr.; great aunts: Cora Lee Jennings-Horton, Laura Sue Jennings-Mickens;  Nephews: Antonio Hamilton, Bruce Hamilton, Kenny Kidd, Aaron Rollins, David Collins, Rodney Collins, Jr., Lawrence Frazier, David Frazier, Antwan Rollins, Travis Rollins; nieces: Erin Rollins, La’Quisha Yowe, Valeria Russell & Latrice Frazier A host of  great and great-great nephews, nieces, cousins, family and          numerous friends.
