Florence Ruth Lee

Sister Florence Ruth Swain Lee; was born to the late Mr. Champion C. Garrett Sr. and Mrs. Xora Swain on September 29, 1946 in Talladega County, Alabama.  

On July 18, 1964 Sister Lee was united in Holy           Matrimony to the late Deacon Joe Lee. To this union four children were born: Cynthia, Kenneth, Rickey, and Patricia.

Sister Lee joined the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Stanley Threatt.  She served faithfully as the Church Secretary for over 30 years and a member of the Church choir.  She served  approximately three years as the Chairperson for the Church Anniversaries'; she took this up due to the death of her husband (Deacon Joe Lee) She was also a member of the LIGHT Ministry.

Sister Lee was a devoted and loving mother who was well-known to her community.  She loved her family, Pastor, and Church.  Sister Lee met no stranger, she would greet anyone with a smile and a hello.

Sister Lee was preceded in death by her parents,    grandmother, grandfather Jimmy Swain, one brother Champion C. Garrett, Jr., and her devoted husband Joe Lee.

On Thursday, September 17, 2020, Sister Lee departed this life at Coosa Valley Medical Center Sylacauga,     Alabama

She leaves to cherish her loving memories:  two sons: Kenneth Lee, and Rickey (Olivia) Lee both of             Childersburg, AL; two daughters: Cynthia (Rev.      Frederick) Kirkland, and Patricia (Kenneth) Jones, both of Childersburg, AL; 18 grandchildren, 53 great          grandchildren, two sisters: Brenda (Michael) McCallum of Decatur, AL, ; three brothers: Anthony (Deborah) Garrett of Warner Robins, GA , Carey (Agather) Garrett of Irondale, AL, Rev. Arnold (Brenda) Garrett of Selma, AL, two sister-in-laws, Lessie Mae Brown of Childersburg, AL, Mary Jane Garrett of Alpine, AL; a special step mother Dora Garrett McQueens of Selma, AL, a dearest friend Catherine Basedo of Brooklyn, NY.  Sis. Lee added a new edition to the family, her adopted son Kadarious Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
